Mrs. & Mr. Franks grilled for us meat from their own farm and some kosher hot dogs. Our families brought different dishes that we shared with our friends. We had a great meal.  When we were done eating we said Birkat Ha-mazon. We thanked G-d for our food.

We also made our own spices for the Havdalah service.

Our counselors chose some fun poems about children, and they read those for us during the Havdalah service. We said the blessings of the fruit of the vine, spices, fire (light), and separating the holy (Shabbat) from the ordinary (week days).

Day 9 – Maccabia

Hebrew words of the day (kachol) Blue, (adom) Red

Today was a very special day. We were divided to two groups: blue and red. We chose names for our groups: The Blue Zionists and The Red Maccabees!

We had competitions all day long:

-          Group cheer: we sang our cheers loud as we could throughout the day.

-          Group signs design: we made huge signs on fabric and smaller posters.

-          We drank plenty of water.

-          Outside games: tennis ball toss, Frisbee, tug-o-war, and splish splish splash!!

-          Cake decoration: the Bblue Zionists made an Israeli flag and the Red Maccabees made a red Star of David with marshmallows around it.

-          Songs contest: John and Hagit gave us words and we had to find as many songs as possible that include the words in them.

-          Games at the social hall

-          Teamwork: we cleaned our classrooms and the social hall while helping friends and working as a team.

-          We also got points during the day for encouraging the other group.

Mitzvah Tree – mitzvah is a good deed (helping friend, saying the blessings etc). We mention every day at the end of the day all the mitzvoth we did that day at camp or the night before at home. Our tree is already full with mitzvoth. Today we did more mitzvoth than any other day at camp. Our counselors were very proud of us.

We are sooooo famous – a reporter came today to write about our camp. The photographer took pictures of us while we were singing and the reporter interviews some of us. It was very nice to talk to the reporter and tell her about camp.

Day 10 – Family Museum & Library

Hebrew word of the day (Muzeon) Museum!

What a great day!!
We started our day at the Family Museum. After a short tour, we had a lot of time to experience all the interesting activities at the museum.

After our snack break, we watched two plays by the Junior High Theater. We loved it and clapped really loud when they were done.

We had some more time to enjoy the museum and after lunch we did an art project: picture frame. Decorated picture frame with markers and stickers. Tomorrow we will take the frame home with our camp picture in it. That would be a fun memory.

Then we went to the library - we had a tour, and then Ms. Crystal taught us two fun songs and told us two stories about Jewish holidays (Shavuot and Hanukkah). When she was done we said TODA (thank you) and wrote about our favorite activity of the day>

We enjoyed some free time at the library. Listen to stories, watched the fish, and found interesting books. As soon as we started to be a little bit too active, Heather showed up and practiced our dance for tomorrow. What do you mean why? We have a party with our families... hello!!!

So, at 3 p.m. we were happy, our counselors were exhausted and our parents came to pick us up.
