BREAKING NEWS

The Jewish Federation of the Quad
Cities is teaming up with United Jewish Communities (UJC) in
their launch of the
Israel
Crisis Fund, in response to the ongoing
terrorist threat against Israel. In the short term, our aim is
to help the most vulnerable populations in Israel’s besieged
north, chiefly children, seniors and the disabled, and new
immigrants. If the crisis worsens and needs grow, we will
consider expanding our fundraising efforts.
UJC/federations,
in collaboration with our overseas partners, the Jewish Agency
for Israel (JAFI) and the American Jewish Joint Distribution
Committee (JDC), have already committed $2 million and are
working to raise an addition $10 million to:
>Bring
thousands of young people from the north to safer areas
further south for one month to attend one-week summer camps,
to give them a respite from the attacks and life in bomb
shelters and possibly bring entire families out of harm’s way
($5 million).
>Aid
the elderly and other at-risk populations, including the
disabled, by offering intervention programs in day-care
centers and support communities and trauma relief ($5
million).
>Treat
terror victims with direct support programs such as
counseling. Among the more vulnerable populations are recent
immigrants from Ethiopia, who comprise the majority of
absorption center residents in the north and elsewhere (in one
of the initial missile attacks, an absorption center in Safed
was hit).
Donate now! All monies raised will go directly to the needs
of the children and at-risk populations.
