Kibbutz Or-Haner is located at the North Of the Negev area, western to Gaza strip, 6 kilometers. North of  Sderot. The kibbutz was founded in 1957 and established by a youth group of South American (mostly from Argentina & Uruguay) immigrants, which followed Ben-Gurion`s (the first Israeli prime minister) appeal to Youths to revive the Israeli desert.

There are 142 kibbutz members (of a total population of 400 people) of which, 71 are children and 41 “kibbutz sons” in different courses, parents of members, temporary lodgers and students.

As mentioned above, the kibbutz is located a few kilometers from Gaza strip, a sensitive reality, which makes the inhabitants, mostly involved at the security problematic life here, in our area.

The sound of the rockets, which are sent from Beit Hanoun, One of Gaza neighborhoods, make us feel the unsecured situation in this area. However, The men in our Kibbutz, like most of men in our area are used to be ready to any alarm signs whenever comes, to take care of what is needed according to this situation.
